Zubimendi himself established Real Madrid as his priority and decided to pause the negotiations with the London-based club as soon as he learned that Los Blancos could be an option for him, per that same report.
Zubimendi is 26 years old and has established himself as one of the best midfielders in LaLiga with his ability to distribute the ball as a pivot. New Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso is reportedly a fan of his game and he believes his profile would be very valuable in this current Real Madrid roster.
Even if this report were to be accurate, Zubimendi would not sign for Real Madrid until after the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, so it seems that this transfer saga could be a very long one.
