Your Manic New Madrid Monday Edition of the Daily Merengue
The Open Thread/Daily Merengue is a place where you can discuss anything and everything related to football. Feel free to discuss the topics presented here, or start your very own discussions! The Open thread will be posted every day by one of the mods you’d love to treat to Souvlaki: Valyrian Steel, Felipejack, Kung_Fu_Zizou (AKA KFZ), Juninho and, of course… yours truly.
And So, a New Day Dawns
The last few days have been full of emotion for Madridistas. Considering the subpar season that has now come to pass, one can safely say that the feeling is somewhat bittersweet.
Club Legends Luka Modric, Carlo Ancelotti and Lucas “Spin & Kiss” Vazquez have left the club. It was their last game. Tears slid down Madridistas faces, as with every word spoken by said players, memories kept flooding in. It is the end of an era in a dew ways more than one.
But, you can only ever look ahead. And to that end, boy do Real Madrid seem to be delivering. In comes… Xabi Alonso – the man everybody seemed to want at the helm for the new-look Madrid. Best of luck to this man. Bonafide legend of the sport and already a proven coach.

Trent has also been the first confirmed signing of Los Blancos for the summer. The player has been much-talked-about since last year, for a possible move to Madrid. This is an addition that brings playmaking attributes from the R(W)B position.

Next up, was Dean Huijsen (“Haussen”?). The much sought after CB talent will land in Madrid to strengthen a defensive line that had a season bad enough to cause PTSD to the existing players.
