Welcome to The Daily Merengue — a place where you can feel free to discuss all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name!
Shoutout to the Mods who do a fantastic job, Valyrian Steel, Ezek XI, KungFuZizou, NeRObutBlanco, Felipejack, and Juninho.
PHYSIOS
Physios need to take the spotlight here. They’re doing quite the bang-up job with our players bodies. Can FIFA be blamed for an exhausting schedule that depletes players energy, all for greed? yes. But even before this new clogged schedule came into play, the injuries and poor fitness were still there. Anyways, does anyone remember Mourinho’s Physios from his tenure at our club? yea, we NEED those guys back. It’s no coincidence that since those guys left our club with, our players fitness levels has rapidly declined. Whether is was during a world cup year or euro year, those guys had our players in top notch shape and disciplined to avoid injuries. And when injuries came, they brought them back better than ever and in quick succession. And, It seems our kitchen staff is feeding our players meals that take away their hunger to succeed. Today we have a billion dollar, state of the art stadium and training facility with backwater physio staff. We need a new physio staff, entirely. I don’t know what use pintus was for ancelotti and now, because we still have plenty injuries with him.
PLAYERS
Nothing more defeating than seeing players that don’t have hunger when they wear the white jersey. These are players that if they’re upset, the whole world will know it because they can’t separate their negative emotions from their performances for the team. Or maybe we’ve been spoiled rotten with CR7 era, even if a massive hurricane was sweeping through the club, those guys would still go and make sure that prime barca and or anyone else, knows no peace against them.
XABI-FOCUS
It’s difficult to have discussions about tactics here, when the club has been adamant about only understanding victories and not the setup for a victory to be established. Our club understands buying a house, not building one from the ground up. Xabi has to play to win, it’s clear he has been forced (by the club), to abandon any philosophy as a coach and just chase 3 points and a trophy. Nothing is being built as a result. IMO, we just need to pile on enough victories to win the games/trophy. That’s the tactic. Superb Man-Management is preferred over skilled tactician at our club. Has always been the case under flo.
Xabi may need to focus more on becoming a confidence guru coach for our players than worry about tactics, because our players either can’t seem to obey or understand his tactics enough to follow through with it. Barring gonzalo, arda, tchou, carreras and cama. I don’t have evidence to prove that our players are outright disobeying Xabi-tactics but when you compare Xabi at Bayer and Here, it’s 2 different guys. Which makes it clear that something isn’t clicking between him and the players. Maybe he should’ve waited 1 more year before coming here, let another manager deal with the grunt work of breaking these players egos and watching some of them leave the club. Then he can come in like zidane after benitez and be a hero. or like carlo after everyone is polarized by the previous manager (Mou). and then he gets the customary UCL trophy at seasons end and we say “wow! what a masterstroke from perez! to hire xabi” but what a time for xabi to be a madrid manager.
