The coach announced his decision during a press conference.

Bayern Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has announced his departure from the German club. Leverkusen confirmed that decision on their official website.

After more than two and a half years together, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and head coach Xabi Alonso will part ways. The 2024 German champions, cup winners, and Supercup winners have granted the Spaniard’s request to terminate his contract, originally valid until summer 2026, after the end of this season. Bayer 04 will announce a successor as head coach in due course.

This clears the way for Real Madrid to sign Alonso, who will sign a three-year contract with the club as soon as Los Blancos announce Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from the Spanish capital.

Alonso is a very promising coach and a very charismatic figure within Real Madrid, so his presence will rejuvenate the fans’ expectations and quite possibly the team’s overall performances on the field.
