It was announced on Monday afternoon.
Brazil’s Federation have officially announced Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti will take over their national team for the next year.
It was initially reported by The Athletic, and shortly after, everyone saw confirmation from Brazil’s social media accounts about the Italian manager.
He was being quoted as ‘the greatest in history’, taking over the job in a bid to win them a record-extending sixth World Cup in 2026.
Here is the official statement from Brazil:
“The greatest national team in the history of football will now be led by the most successful coach in the world. Carlo Ancelotti, synonymous with historic achievements, was announced this Monday by the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, as the new coach of the Brazilian national team. He will lead Brazil until the 2026 World Cup and will already coach the team in the next two qualifying games against Ecuador and Paraguay, next month.”
The Italian is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the La Liga season, and will, as mentioned above, coach the two World Cup qualifying games for Brazil in June.
It remains to be seen how well Ancelotti does, but he has his work cut out for him because of the struggles Brazil have been facing in recent years.
