Real Madrid have announced that Alvaro Arbeloa is set to replace Raul as Castilla’s head coach ahead of the 2025-26 season.
This was the official statement from the club:
“Real Madrid CF announces that Álvaro Arbeloa will be the manager of Castilla starting in the 2025-2026 season.
Arbeloa is a legend of Real Madrid and Spanish football, and is one of our club’s most iconic youth players.
He trained in our youth system in 2001 as a player in the U19 A team and in the 2004-2005 season he was part of the Castilla team that achieved promotion to the Second Division.
With our first team, he played 238 matches between 2009 and 2016. During these seven seasons, he embarked on one of the most successful periods in our history. He won two European Cups, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, one La Liga title, two Copa del Rey titles, and one Spanish Super Cup.
With the Spanish national team, he earned 56 caps. He won the unforgettable 2010 World Cup in South Africa and two European Championships, in 2008 and 2012.
He joined Real Madrid’s first team from Liverpool, where he played 98 games in three seasons.
His entire coaching career has been spent in Real Madrid’s youth teams since 2020. He led the U14 A team in the 2020-2021 season, winning the League title, the U16 A team in the 2021-2022 season, and the U19 A team from 2022 to 2025.
As coach of the Under-19s, he achieved the treble in 2022-2023: La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Copa de Campeones. He also won the La Liga title this season and is currently in the final four of the Copa de Campeones.
Arbeloa has always exemplarily represented the values of our club, and he has conveyed them throughout his time as coach of our youth team.”

Arbeloa has been patiently waiting for this job for a few years now, and now, he will finally be able to coach professionally.
He has a great track record with several players in the current Castilla group, so it will be interesting to see what comes of it.
