Levante 1-4 Real Madrid (Vinícius Júnior, Mastantuono & Mbappé x2). The good form continues… Here is the reaction to the league victory. Coming up: Player ratings, player reactions and the another podcast.
Real Madrid were the only team with a 100% record intact in La Liga, and a routine clash against newly promoted Levante seemed unlikely to change that. Especially when looking at the line-ups, although the defence seemed as disjointed as last season if not more, with Álvaro Carreras and Raúl Asencio having to occupy different spaces to make up for a lack of available players and allow rest for others. Dani Ceballos starting was the only other real change. Fede Valverde captained the team again.

Despite the first two chances falling to Levante, it ended up being a comfortable first half for Real Madrid. After Franco Mastantuono hit the bar, Los Blancos took the lead through a delicate effort by Vinícius Júnior. Mastantuono would then score his first goal for the club with his right foot, making it 2-0. Vinícius would almost make it three, but saw a shot saved just before the break. Half-time, 2-0 and cruising.

The second half would bring more action, but the first goal would come from the hosts. Madrid wouldn’t take this to heart though, going on the offence to win a penalty – which was converted by none other than Kylian Mbappé with a very cheeky ‘panenka’. Before many had finished cheering his first, Kylian had another to put the game to bed, this time rounding the keeper before finishing into the empty net. Jude Bellingham then came on to make his return, and almost scored on the occasion just hitting the ball over the crossbar. Vinícius Júnior had the last chance of the game, forcing the keeper into another good save. Full-time, 4-1 to Real Madrid and another routine win for Xabi Alonso and his players. Happy with this performance?
