Following Barcelona’s narrow 1–0 win over Mallorca on Tuesday night, head coach Hansi Flick took a moment in his post-match comments to publicly defend Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has faced recent criticism in the media.
“Real Madrid has an incredible team, one of the best coaches in the world,” Flick said. “For me, it’s not nice to see the abuse towards Carlo Ancelotti because he has won everything in the world – with every club. He is a gentleman, and I have the greatest respect.”
The comments come ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated Clásico final, where Barcelona will face Real Madrid with a trophy on the line.
“For me, it’s great to see him again because he’s a truly incredible coach,” he added.
