Real Madrid’s preseason isn’t just about fitness drills and friendly matches—it’s also about finding the perfect tactical formula for the season ahead. In this week’s Drawing Board by our resident artist Finn (@Finn_Madridista), Xabi Alonso is deep in thought, mapping out his strategy like a grandmaster.
Finn depicts Xabi at the chessboard, carefully positioning his pieces—each one a key member of Los Blancos’ star-studded squad. Vini Jr., true to form, isn’t staying put. Instead, he’s slyly “escaping the press,” darting away from his assigned square while Xabi plots his next move.
