France coach Didier Deschamps talked to the press and revealed the extent of Kylian Mbappé’s ankle injury. The attacker was forced to leave the field during Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Villarreal right after scoring the team’s third goal, and while he made the trip to join the French national team, it looks like he could be limited during this FIFA break.
“He had a minor ailment that isn’t serious; otherwise, he wouldn’t be here today. There are always injuries before the squad announcement, and there may be some afterwards as well. I don’t have any additional information at the moment, as the players arrive at around 4:00 p.m. An update will be provided,” said Deschamps.
Mbappé has led Real Madrid so far this season, so his ability to stay fresh and healthy will be crucial going forward. In that context, it will be interesting to see the role he’s given with France during the break.
