As Dean Huijsen prepares to don the white of Real Madrid, the young center-back has offered parting words to Bournemouth and their supporters, reflecting on a transformative season in England.

Huijsen’s breakout campaign under manager Andoni Iraola turned heads across Europe, and he is set to take the next step in his career by joining the team of his dreams. But before turning the page, Huijsen made sure to express his gratitude to the club that gave him a vital platform.

“Yes, I’m very proud,” Huijsen told the Cherries’ official website. “It’s not just me. I’ve worked hard and done my job, but everyone around us is very good and, yes, they’ve helped me a lot. From a team perspective, it’s been a record-breaking season.

“I think everyone at the end of their career will always remember being part of a club’s history or being part of something special, even if it’s a record or something like that. And yes, I will definitely remember that.

“Thank you for everything. I will always treasure these moments we spent together, and yes, I will always remember them and hope I made you happy.”

Huijsen also reserved special praise for manager Andoni Iraola, whose guidance proved crucial in shaping him into a Madrid-ready talent.

“I think everyone has seen how I’ve progressed this season, and I’m excited to learn more,” Huijsen said of Iraola. “He’s a great coach, and I’m very grateful to him.”
