Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois talked to DAZN a few days ahead of the team’s debut in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Courtois shared some thoughts about the tournament and Real Madrid’s chances in it.
“We always go to tournaments to win, and we are probably one of the favorites. We want to play to win. We are going to do everything possible to go as far as possible,” he said.
Courtois was then asked about what keeps him and his teammates going having been so successful in recent years.
“We play every year to win all the trophies. You have that pressure, and winning trophies is obviously a source of adrenaline that you want to keep feeling constantly. I think you want to keep winning every year, and that’s why you constantly play at a high level, because that’s what’s expected of us,” he explained.
Courtois will undoubtedly be a crucial player for Real Madrid during the tournament, as Real Madrid will try to establish Xabi Alonso’s new tactical ideas, which could ultimately lead to opposing teams generating quality scoring opportunities against Los Blancos.
