Real Madrid’s newest signing said.
Real Madrid’s newest left-back, Alvaro Carreras, called Marcelo his role model growing up, when asked by Real Madrid’s media team on a recent post on their social media channels.
He said:” When I came here, it was during Marcelo’s time, and he has been a role model for me. Roberto Carlos too, but Marcelo above all.”
It kind of makes sense for him to have Marcelo as his idol. The Brazilian was one of the greatest full-backs of all time, and Carreras joined the academy in 2017, just around the time Marcelo had an assist in the Champions League final against Juventus.
Marcelo did the same in 2018 for Gareth Bale’s thunderous bicycle kick, and any young full-back in the world would be inspired by that.
Hopefully, Carreras is able to perform well for the club, just like his idol did, as it was a position that required a new signing as soon as possible.
