It was a dream debut start at home for the young defender, who capped the night with his first-ever goal for the senior team.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the match, Ramón was visibly emotional as he tried to process the unforgettable moment.
“It’s inexplicable. I’ve been dreaming about this all my life,” he said. “With this shirt, you have to go all the way. There’s no better way to score my first goal than this.”
The decisive goal came in the dying moments of the game, when a cross into the box was flicked on and found its way to Ramón.
“I saw the cross, it was flicked on, I thought I’d get in there and I don’t know how, but I put it in,” he said, recalling the decisive touch that sent the Bernabéu into a frenzy.
Making his first start at the iconic stadium added to the significance of the night for the 20-year-old.
“It’s amazing. I couldn’t have imagined it and even more so considering the time it happened,” Ramón said. “It’s a great source of pride and I hope there are many more to come. At first I was a bit nervous, but as the minutes went by I felt better. The end is self-explanatory. I’m delighted.”
Ramón also shared how meaningful it was to receive the congratulations of his teammates — many of whom are world-renowned stars.
“They’re the best in the world and it’s an inexplicable feeling when they come to congratulate you.”
Reflecting on the game itself, Ramón praised Mallorca for their performance and acknowledged the challenge they presented.
“Mallorca are a good team. They scored the first goal and then sat back a bit, but we had a lot of chances. Their goalkeeper had a great game, but we managed to win at the end.”
