Rodrygo: “No one has a guaranteed place”

After nearly seven months away from international duty, Rodrygo has finally rejoined the Brazil national team—and he’s determined to make the most of it. The Real Madrid forward opened up in a press conference reported by Globo Esporte about the challenges he faced during his time away and how he’s grown since.

“It was a long time… It felt like an eternity being away from the national team. It was difficult; I went through a lot. It was good to reflect, clear my head, and get myself back on track. I feel good and ready to give my best, my best version,” Rodrygo said.

The 24-year-old emphasized how crucial the support around him was during that period of uncertainty, singling out his former Real Madrid coach for praise.

“Being with Ancelotti is a pleasure. He has helped me a lot and gave me a big boost in my career. Under his guidance, I’ve improved so much,” he added.

Rodrygo has been in and out of the lineup for Real Madrid this season but has performed well in his minutes. He knows that club performances alone won’t guarantee him a spot in the Seleção.

“No one has a guaranteed place. You have to play well and perform at your club to stay in the national team and make it to the World Cup,” he stated.

The forward also explained that his absence from the national team gave him the opportunity to mature and regain focus.

“It was good to clear my thoughts. I feel stronger now, with a clear mind and ready to keep fighting for my place here,” he said.

“I’m very happy to be here again. Now I want to enjoy it, help the team, and score goals for Brazil,” he concluded.
