Angel Torres talked to the press this Tuesday and revealed a verbal agreement between the two clubs.

Real Madrid attacker Gonzalo Garcia has emerged as a player capable of staying with the first team and playing meaningful minutes during the 2025-26 season, but things were different a month ago. Getafe president Angel Torres talked to the press and revealed that the two clubs reached a verbal agreement over a loan deal for Gonzalo before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.

“There was an agreement that as long as he didn’t stay at Real Madrid, he could come. This is a deal from a month and a half ago, both with the club and with his agent, but the way the boy is right now… I’m hopeful, if Gonzalito comes it would be a great help,” said Torres.

Still, as Torres himself admitted, the situation has changed and Real Madrid could very well decide to keep Gonzalo as their backup striker, a role that would be perfect for him.
