He spoke following the win over Getafe
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke after the 1-0 win over Getafe, reflecting on the performance by saying, “we have put emphasis on being more solid at the back… but we lack a bit of effectiveness up top. In the first half we were good in this sense, although we lost effectiveness in the second half”.
Ancelotti on Alaba and Camavinga
“We’ll have to see tomorrow, but both are suffering from leg discomfort, muscular, I think. It’s difficult for them to recover in time for Saturday.”
Ancelotti on whether there’s any options at left-back on Saturday
“Yes, Fran Garcia.”
Ancelotti on whether he was upset with the second half
“Not upset, because the objective was to get three points and we did it. We played a very good first half and a more difficult second half, because Getafe pushed a little more and complicated the control of the ball.”
Ancelotti on if Barça are favourites in the final
“As I said yesterday, it’s a final. There may be a favorite… but a final is a final. And anything can happen.”
Ancelotti on Arda Güler’s performance
“He played as an interior and did it in his own way. Well, with quality. With an idea and a lot of tranquility.”
Ancelotti on getting the best out of Güler there
“When we played in a 4-4-2 formation, he could only have played as a right winger, because that’s the only position he can occupy if we play in a 4-4-2 formation. There, we couldn’t put him in as a pivot. But in a 4-3-3, he can do very well as an inside player, because he works hard. He lacks a bit of forcefulness in the duels, but he has a lot of quality. Not only for his goals, but also for his game management. His future lies more there than further up. To imagine him as a pivot, nowadays, may be crazy; but in the future… he can also play in that position. But in a 4-3-3, not 4-4-2. Because the quality he has in construction is phenomenal.”
Ancelotti on the formation in the final
“As I said, it could be a 4-4-2… with six midfielders and no strikers (smiles). We’ll have to defend well, because it’s a final. But we will do it. And we’ll have our chances up top.”
Ancelotti on Endrick
“He had two chances, yes. The first one he couldn’t have done better and the second one, it could have been offside. It could have been. But, effectively, he can’t do these things. He is young and must learn. He has to play as hard as possible, not play for the theatre. The drama club doesn’t exist in football.”
Ancelotti on if Brahim Díaz could start in the final
“Yes, obviously yes. He’s had a bit of a slump in recent weeks, but he came back well and today, he performed in every way.”
Ancelotti on Rodrygo scoring one goal in 23 games
“Statistically speaking, he has to play. Because if he hasn’t scored in all this time… he usually scores in these matches. I have full confidence in him.”
