immediate Reaction: Getafe 0-1 Real Madrid

Getafe-Real-Madrid-La-Liga

Still standing…

Getafe 0-1 Real Madrid (Güler). Another squeaky win. This is my immediate reaction. Coming up: Player ratings, interviews and a podcast with Kiyan.

Getafe represented a local derby against a side full of former academy a first team players – and never an easy place to go for Real Madrid. Endrick would get a rare start for the occasion, and he was joined by Arsa Güler. Brahim Díaz also made it onto the pitch, with a whole host of regulars told to sit on the bench. Lucas Vázquez captained Real Madrid.

A tough trip this may be, but fortune found a way for Real Madrid – as Getafe suffered two injuries and Fran García almost scored. Brahim Díaz came close, but Arda Güler was able to find the net after picking the ball up from a rebounded effort. Díaz had another effort saved, as Real Madrid went into the tunnel with a deserved 1-0 lead.

The second-half was a tad more nervy, as the Castilla-curse almost kicked into action once more. Thankfully, Álvaro Rodríguez could only head the ball over the bar for his sides first chance of the game. Brahim Díaz then tried his luck once more, but to no avail as the keeper came out on top again. Vinícius Júnior then had a pop, only to be denied – before Getafe came close with a speculative effort. The home side then really pushed during added time, but Madrid managed to sneak out of the ground with all three points, with the score reading 0-1 at full-time. The title race is somehow still on, but Madrid do not look like they are a genuine contender for the title at this moment in time. What do you think?
